U.S. Secretary of Labor Martin J. Walsh recognized Westerwood Global as a 2022 HIRE Vets Medallion Award recipient during a virtual award ceremony presented by U.S. Department of Labor on November 9, 2022. The team at Westerwood Global is honored to have earned the gold award as a first-time applicant earlier this year.
The award is presented annually to employers that demonstrate unparalleled commitment to attracting, hiring, and retaining veterans in meaningful careers. Initiated by the Honoring Investments in Recruiting and Employing American Military Veterans Act, the award recognizes small businesses, non-profit organizations, and large companies for leadership in promoting veterans’ employment.
Westerwood Global joins 834 other companies from 49 states, plus the District of Columbia, who have not only shown a commitment to hiring veterans but also a dedication to fostering a long-term career growth plan that uses the diverse skills they acquired through their military service.
“The exceptional training and fundamental values instilled in service members are directly translatable to the work we do in the semiconductor industry,” comments Jeannie Jesson, Westerwood Global’s U.S. Head of HR. “We are very fortunate to have the opportunity to provide a civilian career path that continues to use and grow their many talents. Through recruitment outreach activities, internal veterans support initiatives, and ongoing career development it is our honor to support the dedicated men and women who served our country.”
Recipients of the 2022 HIRE Vets Medallion Award meet rigorous employment and veteran integration assistance criteria including: Veteran hiring and retention percentages, availability of veteran-specific resources, leadership programming for veterans, dedicated human resource efforts, and pay compensation for veterans. An exclusive 1,400 employers have earned a HIRE Vets Medallion Award since 2018.
“The HIRE Vets Medallion Award is an important recognition of the veteran support system we have built here at Westerwood Global U.S.,” comments Nigel Wenden, Westerwood Global’s CEO. “We are proud to offer veterans an inclusive, diverse environment with real career growth potential and are incredibly lucky to have such dedicated and qualified individuals on our team.”
